About

Horn Gate reads one dream seven ways and lets the readings disagree. Every one of them is written by AI in the manner of the tradition named above it. They are offered because they are interesting, not because they are true, and none of them knows anything about your life.

The readers

Freud
Die Traumdeutung, 1899. Interrogates. Fixes on the detail you mentioned in passing and will not let it go.
Ibn Sirin
Muntakhab al-Kalam fi Tafsir al-Ahlam, 8th century. Gives a reading conditional on the dreamer. His own method declines to interpret some dreams at all, and so does this lens.
Artemidorus
Oneirocritica, 2nd century Greek. Will not proceed until it knows who is dreaming — in his system a sailor and a magistrate did not have the same dream.
Chester Beatty III
c. 1275 BCE, the oldest surviving dream manual. A lookup table with a verdict per entry. No reasoning shown, ever.
Zhou Gong
周公解夢. Folk oneiromancy, still consulted across the Sinosphere. Terse, categorical, indifferent to how you feel about it.
Zhuangzi
Declines to fix a meaning and hands the question back to you.
Activation–synthesis
Sleep neuroscience. Mechanistic, brief, and unimpressed by the symbolism the others are busy with.

Two things it will not do

No reading ever tells you to do anything. Not gently, not as a question with an instruction inside it, not framed as what the tradition advises. A system that knows nothing about your actual life has no business steering it. Where a historical source prescribes an action — a ritual, a remedy, a thing to avoid — that passage does not come through.

Some dreams get no reading at all. If a dream looks like it is about something that actually happened to you, or a nightmare that keeps coming back, the lenses do not run — not a gentler one, not a filtered one, none. You get a short note pointing at a person instead. The dream is still saved and you are not locked out. Seven clever paragraphs about the worst night of someone's life is the single worst thing this app could produce, and it would produce it fluently.

No reading predicts death, illness or harm to anyone, and no reading treats a dream about a real person as evidence about that person.
